According to security researchers at Microsoft, Lenovo (who bought IBM laptop division) are shipping malware as part of their windows XP update. Win32/Meredrop (hooligan, pron dialer), a Trojan dropper that is used to install and execute multiple malicious executables on an infected computer somehow found its way into their regular windows XP update.
The most horrifying fact is that the malware was found in the digitally signed package distributed by Lenovo. Lenovo appeared to have removed the infected file from the network, but it’s not sure how many have already applied the patch.
Those who have Lenovo computers are advised to check their computer with the latest antivirus software for any infection before it spreads.
