Salma Hayek email account was hacked by some unknown hackers. Hackers successfully reset her password after answering the security questions correctly. Hayek’s MobileMe account was compromised as the hacker was able to answer simple question like her birthday and her favorite character Frida Kahlo. Then access the actress’s personal information, including her e-mail, calendar, and even data about what software she’d downloaded to her iPhone and published online.
Ideally a secret question should be something really hard to guess, it should be something that only you would know. But as a celebrity most of the details are readily available online. It takes nothing other than few simple search queries at Google to sort it out.
Even if you are not a celebrity
- pick a strong password
- don’t share the same password in many websites
- make sure that alpha numeric characters
- don’t use common words like jesus, password, spouse name, birth date etc etc
Few months’ back Sarah plain’s (Republican Party’s vice-presidential nominee) email account was also hacked the same manner.
